SELECTION METHODOLOGY

SELECTION METHODOLOGY

Selection Methodology

This page describes the methodology used to identify, document, and present companies, platforms, and infrastructure initiatives referenced within the Industry Commentary, Case Studies, and Companies sections of this website.

The purpose of this methodology is to provide transparency, consistency, and context regarding how entities are selected for documentation.

Scope of Documentation

Entities referenced on this site are selected based on publicly described technical architectures, systems, or initiatives that relate to the digital representation, verification, tracking, or settlement of electricity, energy attributes, or energy-related data using distributed ledger or blockchain-based technologies.

Documentation is limited to information made publicly available by the entities themselves or by reputable third-party sources.

Primary Selection Criteria

Entities may be documented when their publicly described systems include one or more of the following characteristics:

  • Measurement or reporting of electricity generation or consumption

  • Verification of energy production, attributes, or performance

  • Digital representation of energy, energy rights, or energy-related units

  • Recording of energy-related data or units on a blockchain or distributed ledger

  • Traceability of energy activity across participants or systems

Selection does not require that all characteristics be present simultaneously.

Neutral and Informational Approach

All documentation is conducted using a neutral, non-accusatory, and informational framework.

Descriptions focus on architectural patterns and system characteristics, not on business intent, legal interpretation, or commercial arrangements.

No conclusions are drawn regarding compliance, licensing, partnerships, or legal status unless explicitly stated by the documented entity in public materials.

Use of Public Sources

All descriptions are derived exclusively from:

  • Public statements

  • Technical documentation

  • Press releases

  • White papers

  • Platform or protocol documentation

  • Reputable third-party industry publications

No proprietary, confidential, or non-public information is used.

Evolving Documentation

The energy blockchain and digital energy infrastructure landscape is rapidly evolving.

Accordingly, this documentation framework is ongoing and iterative.

Additional entities may be documented over time as public information becomes available or as new systems and architectures emerge.

Intent

The intent of this methodology is to support informed discussion, technical understanding, and transparency within the evolving energy blockchain ecosystem.
